Development of a physical model for computer simulated produktion of the sound of a labial organ pipe

Projektkennung Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Projektnummer 15559974

The objective of the research project is to develop a physical model of the sound generation in labial organ pipes. Laboratory measurements of the attack transients and stationary sounds of real organ pipes will provide the experimental data for the development of the physical model. The main goals of the research project are to understand the physical processes involved in the build-up of the sound signal in the pipe and to develop a quantitative model for describing the evolution of the pipe sound in the time domain. The model should quantitative describe the energy supply of the pipe by the air jet emerging from the flue of the pipe. For establishing the physical model the feedback processes of both the hydrodynamic and acoustic oscillators and the process of synchronisation between pipe and edge tones will be studied.
