Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse
The general aim of the proposed work was achieved. The macromonomer synthesis was successfully carried out and polymerisation conditions were optimised to prepare polymers from these macromonomers. Unfortunately high molecular weight polymers can not yet be prepared with the polymerisation method found. The highest molecular weight polymer that should show a helical conformation has a molecular weight of ca. 10’000 g/mol. This is, however, sufficient for at least one full helical turn. To visualise the hypothesised helical shape we are currently carrying out atomic force and scanning tunnelling microscopic imaging of these samples in collaboration.
