Startupof a Tier-2 grid computing centre in Munich for the preparation of the data analysis of the ATLAS experiment at the pp collider LHC
Final Report Abstract
Based on the provided DFG-funds, a regional grid-computing center (Tier-2) within the international "World-Wide LHC Grid Computing" Collaboration for the Large Hadron Collider experiments at CERN was established, certified and the operation started. Resulting from the appointment of the applicant A.Quadt from a Heisenberg-fellowship to a full professor for experimental particle physics at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, the field of particle physics was newly established at their II. Institute of Physics and integrated in the national and international community. Hence, the new Tier-2 Grid Computing Center was also installed and operation started there. The close cooperation with the Max-Planck Institute for Physics in Munich, started within the DFG funds provided here, was pursued and an intense scientific exchange was continued and strengthened.
