Self-organization of the nuclear array in early Drosophila embryos (A10)

Subject Area Statistical Physics, Nonlinear Dynamics, Complex Systems, Soft and Fluid Matter, Biological Physics
Term from 2011 to 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 178321814

During the development of the drosophila embryo the individual nuclei move in a specific pattern. This collective movement is orchestrated by processes that are not fully understood yet. The goal of this project is to understand how active processes in the embryo actin cortex drive this collective movement. For this purpose, the mechanical links between cortex and nuclei will be identified and active (motor driven) contributions analyzed. Consequently, force transmission between cortex and nuclei will be studied to fully understand collective movement patterns in a complex tissue model.
