Modulation of miRNA Expression Reveals Plasticity of Human Immune Function (C)

Subject Area Immunology
Term from 2011 to 2015
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 178696424

Exogenous and endogenous ligands of Toll-like receptors (TLR) alter differentiation, maturation and function of myeloid and lymphoid cells. In part this is due to alterations in the micro RNA (miR) expression profiles of these cells. miRs are thereby not only indicators but also direct initiators of adaption or maintenance of cellular functional phenotypes. Based on two model systems (tolerogenic TLR-APC and IL-10-producing B cells) the interrelationship between exogenous signals (TLR), endogenous signaling, intracellular regulation (miR) and phenotypic function will be analyzed.
