In this project we will study the dynamical properties of gradient copolymers in order to determine the effectiveness of their potential for molecular transportation and delivery. Our goal is to formulate and investigate theoretical models and compare them to computer simulation results. The initial stage of the project will be devoted to the study of the general dynamical properties of gradient copolymers (reptation in melt, diffusion in solution). Then we plan to study the three following questions: (1) Molecular rails: study of the motion of a bound particle along the energy bias in gradient copolymer. (2) Molecular dragger: We plan to analyze the peculiarities of the translocation through nanopores of gradient copolymers. An intrinsic bias may provide a driving force for the translocation of the copolymer itself and molecules linked with it. (3) Gradient DNA molecular transporter and building block for self-assembly. We will consider dynamical properties of gradient DNA; bubble formation and uneven contour length “breathing” due to intercalating ligand molecules.
