Project Details
Sample preparation, filter efficiency and computer tomography (S01)
Subject Area
Metallurgical, Thermal and Thermomechanical Treatment of Materials
Term
from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 169148856
In terms of the service project metallographic-, microscopic- as well as computer tomography investigations will take place supporting different issues of all scientific projects. According to the metallographic investigations the standard filtration efficiency as a function of the number, the shape, the distribution and the chemical composition of the inclusions per volume and per surface will be determined. The identification of the indenter crack length and analyse of the fracture area of the small punch specimen to clarify the final failure will be required microscopic investigations. With the aid of the computer tomography the macro structure of the filters before and after casting as well as the morphology of the deposited inclusions with a non destructive method will be investigated. Especially in the third phase in situ in CT application of compression loads on the filter structures will be investigated, in order to illustrate failure mechanisms of the substrates as well as of the composite system based on substrate with the functional coating. With the aid of the Digital Volume Correlation (DVC) Software the deformation fields as well as the stress distribution as a function of the different compression stages will be investigated.
