The role of the GRAS protein RAM1 in arbuscule development and function (B03)

Subject Area Plant Genetics and Genomics
Term from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 170483403

The arbuscular mycorrhiza symbiosis between most land plants and glomeromycotan fungi increases plant mineral nutrition and therefore has great potential for enhancing nutrient use efficiency in sustainable agriculture. We have identified RAM1, a Lotus japonicus GRAS transcription factor, which is required for branching of fungal arbuscules inside root cortex cells and therefore for nutrient transfer from the fungus to the plant. Here, we want to understand the molecular function of RAM1 through identification and characterization of its interacting proteins and target genes.
