Role of integrin trafficking and stability for leukocyte migration (A05)

Subject Area Immunology
Term from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 165054336

Integrin signaling controls numerous leukocyte functions including adhesion and tissue trafficking. Integrins are continuously trafficked through the endosomal system to regulate their protein stability and activity. In this project we will investigate mechanisms underlying sorting nexin 17 (SNX17)-dependent and -independent control of β1 and β2 integrin protein stabilization and transport. To this end, we plan to analyze the function of nuclear dbf2-related (Ndr) kinases and AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) for integrin stability in leukocytes and to identify and characterize de-ubiquitinases (DUBs) that remove ubiquitins from integrin cytosolic domains.
