Project Details
Pseudo-spectral methods for the Einstein equations on hyperboloidal slices (A07#)
Subject Area
Astrophysics and Astronomy
Term
from 2011 to 2014
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 5485423
This project is concerned with the development of novel numerical techniques for the solution of constraint and time evolution equations in general relativity. Three aspects will be central: (i) the incorporation of future null infinity, (ii) the use of pseudo-spectral methods for spatial directions, and (iii) the introduction of appropriate coordinates related to conformal mappings known from complex analysis. The project will explore and develop further the construction of binary initial data which will serve as an input for the projects B6 and B7.
