Project Details
Innate immune response in virus-induced liver damage (A10)
Subject Area
Immunology
Term
from 2012 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 190586431
In unpublished preliminary work we found that T cells are responsible for induction of apoptotic liver cells after LCMV infection. The presence of apoptotic cells correlated with the induction of the inhibiting cytokine IL-10. In the following funding period, the influence of apoptotic cells on the antiviral immune response will be determined. The role of apoptotic cells on liver cell damage and liver regeneration will be investigated. Mechanistically, we will focus on the interaction of MHC-I with inhibitory receptors, the tyrosine kinase MER (Mertk) and the "do not eat me" signal CD47.
