Final Report Abstract
The objective is the application of a new theory for vibrational spectra and Raman scattering in glasses. The theory of Schirmacher and Schmid is compared with experimental data for fused silica and niobium phosphate glasses with varying concentration. We obtain a consistent quantitative description of the measured Raman and neutron spectra, the results of molecular dynamics simulations, and the statistics of the Pockels constants from the depolarization ratio.
