Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse

The overall project enabled to uncover in detail the geometrical and topological properties of space-filling packings and bearings. Further, from the analysis and simulations of such geometrical models, two applications were proposed and are being now developed. The first one deals with the reproduction of Richardson law about anomalous diffusion, already known for turbulent fluids like the atmosphere itself. If the simulations still to be finished are as expected, velocity fields of SFBs can be taken as heuristic models for anomalous diffusion regimes. The second application, additional to the previous project application, was the ability of SFB to reproduce fractal properties observed in real fault gouges. Such finding together with the bearing property of our packings gives a new geometrical hypothesis for the existence of seismic gaps at fault gouges were strong seismic activity should be expected due to their tectonic motion. All logistic support comprehending the computer necessities and the required programs and software to perform the work was available as expected.
