In this project we want to develop new pulse sequences for dipolar spectroscopy based on amplitude/phase modulated broadband pulses. This includes a new CPMG (Carr-Purcell / Meiboom-Gill) PELDOR (Pulsed Electron Electron Double Resonance) sequence, which exhibits a prolonged observation time window, a broadband 2D-SIFTER (Single Frequency Technique for Refocusing of Dipolar Coupling) pulse sequence for rigid spin labels with orientation information encoded in the dipolar time traces and a DQC (Double Quantum Coherence) experiment, which might be extended to multiple-quantum filter experiments, which would be valuable tools for determining the change of oligomeric states of membrane protein complexes under specific conditions. Additionally we want to explore the possibility of such pulse sequences at very high magnetic fields (9.2 T).
