The enantioselective synthesis of amphidinol 3 is projected. The synthetic plan is based on previous efforts in the Evans group, but will utilize a slightly different protecting group strategy. The newly designed route should overcome the obstacles faced on the original synthetic plan and lead to the successful completion of the synthesis of this complex, highly functionalized polyketide.
