Synoptic analysis of adaptive immune reactions in very early multiple sclerosis: Repertoires and target antigens of B and T cells (A05)

Subject Area Molecular and Cellular Neurology and Neuropathology
Term from 2012 to 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 213904703

To investigate very early immunological changes of multiple sclerosis (MS), we will compare, in parallel, the repertoires and target antigens of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, as well as IgG- and IgM-producing B cells in selected monozygotic twins who are discordant for MS, i.e., one twin has subclinical radiologically isolated syndrome (RIS) and the other established MS. By employing next generation sequencing, single-cell analysis, and recombinant antibodies and T cell receptors, we hope to obtain a comprehensive, ¿synoptic¿ view of different components of the adaptive immune system in very early as compared to established MS.
