The Aktienführer is a publication from the publishing house Hoppenstedt with its predecessors called Salings Börsenpapiere which provides information about the companies listed in German stock exchanges in standardized format. For example data about directors, supervisory boards, ownership structure and balance sheets are listed. Due to the relatively long and regular publication history since 1870, and the consistently high quality of the data, the Aktienführer is an often used and exceptional source of data for economic research related to Germany. In the first phase of the project Aktienführer-Datenarchiv the volumes 1976-1999 were digitized and the structured full text was recorded in a database. The data is now available via a web-interface for searching and exporting. In the proposed continuation of the project, the searchable and exportable database will be expanded to the years 1956-1975 and 2000-2016 by automatic text extracting from the digitized volumes and from the CD-ROM editions and adapted to the existing data structure. Furthermore, the older not yet digitized Aktienführer volumes and the volumes of the previous series will be digitized, and the full text is automatically extracted and presented through a web interface. In this way, the holdings which are scatterd over several libraries in Germany will be digitally merged and the complete publication history 1870-2016 will be made accessible comfortably, sustainably for science and free of charge for the users.
