Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse

As part of the CCC research unit, which investigated how concurrent changes can be handled in a controlled manner for safety-critical embedded system, i.e., ensuring safety, security and availability requirements, the A2 project performed research regarding contracts in network-based distributed systems as well as on suitable communication and networking platforms. As in regular live, contracts between different partners provide means to ensure a certain behavior resp. method to deal with deviations if necessary. Within A2, in collaboration with other subprojects, we designed an according concise, viewpoint-centric specification of the contracts, also considering networking aspects. The research results achieved by A2 on communication and networking platform and components allow for distributed and robust operation of other CCC components, utilizing context information for improving the assignment of network resources, e.g., selecting among several network links. In collaboration with A3, methods to provide for agreement and for coordination among distributed platforms, for example various vehicles, have been developed and evaluated. Using them, maneuver coordination becomes possible, e.g., to help autonomous vehicles to change lanes safely while driving on a highway and increase traffic efficiency. Extensive work has been done on simulation tools and scenarios. The achievements comprise the simulation framework ArteryLTE which has been made publically available. Besides publications in scientific conferences and journals, some ideas and results of our work on CCC A2 and vehicular networking in particular have also been presented to the public during the “Weihnachtsvorlesung 2017 and 2018” at TU Braunschweig (mainly for school kids).
