Polymer-optical sources and detectors (A03)

Organic light emitting diodes (OLED), organic thin film lasers (OLAS) and organic photo diodes (OPD) will be integrated in passive planar single and multi-mode waveguide structures to realize planar sensor systems based on polymers. One main challenge will be the reliable and repeatable combination of the four sub-components source, waveguide, sensor and detector on a common flexible polymer substrate. Another challenge will be the upgrade of the transmission link to single-mode waveguides by the introduction of organic thin film lasers.
