The Buhez Sante Barba 'Life of St Barbe' is a Middle Breton miracle play that was first printed in Paris in 1557. It is a masterpiece of Middle Breton literature that illustrates the ability of the Breton writers to take part in the literary discourse of that time in their own vernacular. The first scholarly edition of this text dates back to 1888 and is outdated by now. The aim of the project is to produce a new scholarly edition based on the the first printed version including the variant readings of the recently dicovered version of 1608 and of the version printed in 1647. The new edition will also include a English translation, comments and a short glossary. A comprehensive glossary will be made available online for free.
