Project Details
Longitudinal and multimodal investigations of the modulation of fear- and anxiety-related processes by life adversity - predictive and buffering factors. (B07)
Subject Area
Metabolism, Biochemistry and Genetics of Microorganisms
Term
from 2013 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 44541416
Life adversity represents a major risk factor for the development and relapse of anxiety disorders. This project focuses on the effect of life adversity on experimentally induced return of fear as a model for clinical relapse as well as on changes in brain structure and function. Thereby, functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging as well as psychophysiological, hormonal and behavioral measures will be employed in a longitudinal study design in healthy participants. Ultimately, a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying increased relapse risk following life adversity - as expected to be generated by this project -may aid the development of specific prevention and intervention programs.
