New Tellurium-Nitrogen pi-Heterocycles: Synthesis, Structure and Potential Applications as Molecular Magnets / Conductors
Applicant
Professor Dr. Jens Beckmann
Subject Area
Inorganic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2013 to 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 236582302
It is intended to perform fundamental research of methods for synthesis, molecular and electronic structure and chemical properties of tellurium-nitrogen heterocycles - derivatives of 1,2,5-telluradiazole ring system, with special emphasis on reduction of the heterocycles into their radical anions followed by isolation of the latter in the form of thermally stable salts, together with experimental and theoretical investigation of magnetic and electrical properties of the salts for evaluation of their potential as building blocks in the design and synthesis of new functional materials - molecular magnets and / or conductors.
