With this proposal we would like to investigate several aspects of magnetic correlations in Fe-based superconductors by using advanced neutron scattering techniques and in particular by neutron polarisation analysis. The planned projects can be grouped into three parts: We would like to obtain a better understanding of the distribution of spin-density both in the paramagnetic and in the antiferromagnetic phases. Magnetic excitations seem to be a key element for the understanding of the superconducting pairing; we would like to deepen our knowledge by investigating the anisotropy of magnetic excitations in spin-space and by studying their detailed doping dependence. Pure and substituted LiFeAs would form a main focus of our activities due to the special character of this material which exhibits a high superconducting transition temperature without any doping.
