Glycosaminoglycan-poly (ethylene glycol) hydrogels for improving dermal wound healing (A10)

Subject Area Biomaterials
Dermatology
Term from 2013 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 59307082

C. Werner and U. Freudenberg develop multi-phased hydrogel materials, to combine presentation and sequestration of key signaling molecules of wound healing. At the same time the auto regulative release of bioactive substances from GAG-based polymer networks and the functionalization of the hydrogels with antiseptic and anti-oxidative substances are to be developed. The potential of these multi-phase, interactive biomaterials systems to stimulate cutaneous wound healing, bone regeneration and to modulate morphogenesis will be characterized.
