Patient-derived diseased and autologous immunocompetent skin models for the examination of drug-loaded nanocarrier systems (C02)

Subject Area Pharmacy
Term from 2013 to 2018
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 234930468

This project aims on the one hand to examine the complex interplay between nanocarriers and immune cells of the skin using an autologous, human-based immunocompetent skin model, which is reconstructed using hair-follicle derived outer root sheath cells and immune cells derived from the same donor. It will be used to study interactions between topically applied nanocarriers and skin immune cells. On the other hand a complex in vitro model of psoriasis will be developed via gene modulation and/or skin cells derived from psoriasis patients allowing one to determine drug effects in vitro and to detect the potential benefits but also side effects of drug-loaded nanocarriers.
