STAT6-regulated B cell responses in type 2 immunity (20)

Subject Area Immunology
Term from 2013 to 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 215346292

The transcription factor STAT6 is known to be required for immunoglobulin class switching to IgE. In addition, project 20 found a critical role of STAT6 in B cells for regulation of the germinal center (GC) reaction in type 2 immunity and further identified numerous STAT6-regulated genes in B cells by a combined proteome/transcriptome. In addition, this project could show that the immunotyrosine tail motif of the IgE-BCR was required for expansion of IgE+ plasma cells (PCs). In the next funding period this project will determine the role of distinct STAT6-regulated genes for GC formation, characterize helminth-derived B cell antigens and monitor the development of memory B cells and long-lived PCs by fate mapping of GC-derived cells.
