Intervention study: Effects of interreligious learning as religious perspective taking in religious education in vocational schools

Subject Area Protestant Theology
Term from 2013 to 2017
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 243530669

Given the growing importance of interreligous relationships in vocational education and the far-reaching lack of empirical studies on the effects of different didactical approaches in religious education on the whole and especially in religious education in vocational schools, this intervention study focusses on interreligious education as religious perspective taking in religious education in vocational schools. The treatment consists of two curricular modules with and without reference to vocational aspects, on the the topics 'Islamic Banking' and 'Religions and Violence' that will be used in the context of the economic qualification. At three points, the learning presuppositions at the beginning, changes at the end, and changes after a longer period of time will be measured and compared. The treatment was and will again be evaluated in trial runs in respect to its effectiveness. The study is based on a randomized sample. The data will be evaluated with multi-level-analysis. The project makes use of the special infrastructure at Tübingen with its two institutes for religious education in vocational contexts. Moreover, the Tübingen institute for empirical research in education offers important potentials for cooperation.
