The sub-project aims to historicize economic security, taking as its example the case of West German enterprises in the context of European Integration and decolonisation (ca. 1950 to ca. 1990). Its two work assignments will inspect the different perceptions and expectations of enterprises in export-oriented or internationalised business sectors towards the European and post-colonial economic areas, respectively. With the insights on the changing nature of corporate security concepts as a result of high pressures to adapt in international business contexts, the project aims to advance the synthesis of business history and historical security studies.
