This project grew out of the study of an existence problem for algebraic cycles in terms of algebraic K-theory and its decomposition into a deformation and an algebraization problem. This led us to deep problems of algebraic K-theory like the Weibel conjecture and excision. In the future, we plan to apply our new techniques to crystalline cohomology.
