Processes with thermal main impact ((1) F02)

Subject Area Metal-Cutting and Abrasive Manufacturing Engineering
Term from 2014 to 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 223500200

Project Description

The sub-project F02/EDM aims at developing a Process Signature for processes with thermal main impact. The electrical discharge machining (EDM) has been chosen as a representative for the mentioned processes. The generated heat that dissipates during the electrical discharges, leads to high temperatures and hence material modifications. Research aim of the next funding period is the development of a better understanding of the emerging gas bubble, leading to a more precise prediction of the loads. At the same time simulation of the microstructure modifications will provide further conclusions about the loads. Furthermore, process combinations as well as a reliable application of existing Process Signature components will be investigated.
