Decentralised resource allocation based on mutualistic networks

Subject Area Production Systems, Operations Management, Quality Management and Factory Planning
Term from 2013 to 2016
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 250929181

Manual assembly still owns major shares on production and maintenance of large scale products like turbines. Optimzing these complex tasks according to throughput time and efficiency aspects can be performed by organising the workshop in a flow line. Although flow line incrase their share in industry the theoretical aspects are widely ignored, especially when it comes to high varieties and complex products and assembly procedures. In classical workshops the workload in the workshop is in the focus. In long and medium term approaches the personnel levels are planned and optimised. In a flow line the throughput time is fix and the personnel has to be in the focus in a short range, e.g. assembly capacity adaption. In the proposed project a new approach shall be investigated to reallocate resources in a flow line using models from biology and implement mutualistic networks into production. Hence being able to take technological, organisational and technical aspects into account while supporting decision maker on the work level.
