The IRTG’s central goal is to accompany our PhD students on their way to a successful doctorate, to support them in their individual efforts, and to prepare them for a successful subsequent career path, be it in academia or other sectors. To this effect, several measures are taken: (i) systematic supervision and mentoring, (ii) interdisciplinary course program, (iii) thematic working and reading groups, (iv) complementing workshops (soft skills, e.g. career planning), (v) events to present intermediate results (PhD days), and (vi) participation of PhD representatives in planning and organization. In addition, to foster the skills required to plan, fund, conduct and report on a research project (loosely related to the thesis), we introduce a new measure, treasure chest funding.
