Since 2015, the internationally well-connected project studies the methodical as well as systematical conception of the 'Philosophical Investigations into the Essence of Human Freedom' (1809). During this time, it was possible to gain several new insights, to discuss them with renowned national and international cooperation partners at two workshops and to partially publish them. Yet, in the course of the consistent pursuit of the project goals, as well as through the exchange with our partners, some unexpected problems have been detected as well. Their solution bears significantly on the quality and contemporary relevance of the project with its central theoretical aims. These problems concern the doctrine of the intelligible deed (particularly with regard to Indifference and Determination), time and timelessness, human freedom and divine omnipotence, moral responsibility and, lastly, 'positive evil'. It is precisely these aspects, which hold the greatest promise to bring Schelling's position into dialogue with current debates.
