Project Details
The effect of synaptic short-term plasticity on granule cell activity in the dentate gyrus microcircuit (A02)
Subject Area
Molecular Biology and Physiology of Neurons and Glial Cells
Term
from 2015 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 243553651
Odors are represented in the olfactory bulb by spatiotemporal patterns of multiple glomeruli, corresponding to ensembles of active Mitral cells. Different, yet similar odors share active Mitral cells, resulting in overlapping patternsIt has been hypothesized that GABAergic cells play a central role for decorrelation of similar activity patterns in the OB. In this project, we will analyse by in vivo calcium-imaging of Mitral cells activity and by behavioural testing how GABAergic periglomerular cells influence ensemble activity and odor discrimination.
