The aim of research training group is to provide an interdisciplinary education program in computational sciences of international reputation and to expand the joint research of engineers, mathematicians and computer scientists. Goals are (1) the theoretical and numerical methods to study partial differential equations arising from nonlinear coupled field phenomena and (2) the development of the corresponding software and visualization tools. The research directions are as follows: A: Numerical methods, algorithms, software. B: Inelastic time-dependent defomation, e.g. from metal forming processes. C: Coupled problems from geosciences. The PhD program includes seminars, lectures and workshops on special research projects, involving distinguished scientists from our partner universities, Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden, and Universidad Politechnica de Catalonica (International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE)), Barcelona, Spain.
