Project Details
Resonant x-ray absorption and scattering study of classical and oxide-based topological insulators (C04)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
from 2015 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 258499086
In this project we will use resonant x-ray scattering to study two main topics: (i) Taking advantage of the probing depth and the nm depth resolution of our method, we plan to study the interaction of incorporated Mn, Cr and Fe impurities with the gapless surface states in HgTe, ¿-Sn, and (Bi,Sb)2(Se,Te)3. (ii) We will contribute to the realization of a topological insulator in correlated transition metal-oxides which is expected on theoretical grounds in titanate and nickelate films of proper crystallographic orientation.
