Analysis of the function of brassinosteroids in the control of gibberellin homeostasis (A12)

Subject Area Plant Cell and Developmental Biology
Term from 2015 to 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 170483403

Since photosynthetic efficiency determines plant survival, plants have evolved a multilevel network of adaptations to cope with changes in their light environment. Changes in light quality are perceived and signalled by dedicated signal transduction cascades, which crosstalk with other factors and pathways to optimise growth and adjust developmental programs. By these means, light quality affects crop performance. Therefore, an understanding of the molecular basis of how plants respond to light is important for approaches that aim at improving traits relevant for agriculture or horticulture. This project intends to study the role of the brassinosteroid (BR)-regulated transcription factor CESTA in integrating light signals into BR-controlled growth.
