C08 deals with two central problems of derivational morphology, the polysemy and compositionality of word-formation processes. It aims at the description and frame-based modeling of the potentially diverse interpretations of derived words, and of the role base semantics and affix semantics play in determining possible readings of derivatives. The project investigates diverse morphological categories of English, including in the new fund-ing period non-deverbal event-related nominalizations and prefixes that give rise to scalar or degree-based interpretations.
