In this project, photonic parts of transmitters for inter-chip onboard optical links using wavelength division multiplexing technique will be realized. In order to realize energy-efficient transmitters, resonator-based modulators, in particular ring modulators with a low-quality factor, will be investigated in this project. The idea is to use both amplitude and phase dimensions of these modulators which would enable higher order modulation required to enhance the bitrates transmitted in each channel. The other component we plan to realize is the multi-wavelength source, i.e. a frequency comb, which would produce different wavelengths by having a single pump as input. This component would drastically reduce the energy consumption on the transmitter side, since fewer lasers will be needed.
