Simulation and modeling of the process behavior of semi-cyrstalline materials in the special injection molding process GITBlow

Subject Area Plastics Engineering
Term from 2015 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 280381495

The special injection molding process GITBlow is an invention of the Kunststofftechnik Paderborn (KTP) located at Paderborn University. It is characterized by the combination of the processes of gas assisted injection molding (GAIM) and blow molding. Therefore, it combines the high geometric accuracy and short cycle time of GAIM with the possibility to manufacture thin walled and complex shaped hollow spaces. Based on the results of the previous DFG-project the aim of this project is to develop a model describing the influences and interaction of the GITBlow-specific process parameters. The focus is set on an optimization and adaption of an existing model in order to describe the behavior of semi-crystalline materials within the GITBlow process.
