Cloud storage has gained a central role in digital user habitats. Yet, it incurs privacy threats for data owners and data clients alike. We focus on two questions: how to allow fine-grained access control while hiding the access patterns from the cloud provider, and how to support data clients without revealing data owner identities. We will investigate privacy-preserving outsourced databases with multiple data owners and clients. This encompasses: appropriate privacy notions, cryptographic primitives supporting these, client access through dedicated functions on (encrypted) data, trade-offs between privacy and functionality, and minimal cryptographic assumptions. We will investigate the application of our techniques to the setting of public logs.
