Project Details
Process-level assessments of Arctic mixed-phase clouds (E03)
Subject Area
Atmospheric Science
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 268020496
The combination of unique cloud radar measurements collected during phase I and II allows us to describe MPC properties and relevant microphysical and precipitation-forming processes. Additionally, a unique and long dataset of 2.5 years of cloud-resolving simulations at 600 m horizontal resolution have been performed. Observations and simulations are combined to improve our understanding of MPC and the processes influencing their evolution. In phase III, all datasets will be combined to investigate the influence of different surfaces, weather situations, moisture, water phases as well as CCN/IN on MPC.
