Chronometric investigations of ancient lunar impact rocks (A01)

Lunar basins, craters, and associated ejecta deposits provide the most detailed record of ancient accretion in the solar system. Reconciling the cratering record with disparate isotopic dates on impactites obtained by different geochronometers remains an ongoing challenge. Multi-chronometry of lunar impactites (Lu-Hf, Sm-Nd, Rb-Sr, and Pb-Pb, plus in situ U-Pb dating of accessory minerals) will continue to yield new insights into the significance of dates, isotopic disturbance, and ejecta mixing by late basin-forming impacts, and will produce crucial constraints for models of the lunar accretion history between 4.5 and 3.8 Ga.
