Patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) develop right ventricular (RV) remodeling. Pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) almost always leads to normalization of pulmonary hemodynamics, with consecutive RV reverse remodeling. We established a biobank of RV tissue and blood specimens from CTEPH pre- and post-PEA. RV samples underwent and will undergo further deep sequencing, proteomic analysis and histomorphological profiling to compare the remodeling processes pre and post PEA. The expanded biobank will provide RV tissue, blood samples and now also CTEPH lung tissue to CRC projects, offering the unique opportunity to compare human RV and vascular remodeling in response to PH with its reversal upon unloading the RV.
