Project G1 aims to apply best-practice methods of Bayesian chronological modelling, and to identify chronological problems faced by Cluster B-E and develop and test methods to address them. With the widened range of the subprojects it will become increasingly necessary to test and apply methods for validating and aggregating new and legacy 14C data and to engage with alternative approaches to pattern-recognition. G1 will focus on methods for generating and interpreting archaeological time-series, i.e. developing robust 14C-dated proxies for archaeological phenomena, such as the number of sites occupied at any point in time, but will also develop expertise in spatial-temporal modelling.
