Project Details
Proteasomal protein turnover during immune priming in Arabidopsis (C06)
Subject Area
Biochemistry
Term
from 2016 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 190578797
Aim of the project is to understand on the molecular level how the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) is mechanistically linked to priming of systemic immune responses to bacterial pathogens. In preliminary work, we were able to show that Arabidopsis thaliana mutants impaired in proteasome function do not display systemic acquired resistance (SAR) towards a challenge infection with bacteria after a priming infection of local leaves. These plants will be subjected to a detailed molecular and physiological analysis during SAR to identify and characterise molecular components of the priming of defensive systemic responses that are regulated by the UPS.
