Project Details
Probing and characterising universal dynamics far from equilibrium (A04)
Subject Area
Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273811115
Ultra-cold atoms are used to realize one-dimensional sodium spinor gases and two-dimen¬sional potassium condensates in box trapping potentials. The central goal is to fully establish, in a concerted experimental and theoretical effort, the concept of universal dynamics and for this to identify different universality classes. A focus will be set on strongly non-linear excita¬tions. The long-term goal is to characterise the entire evolution from initial states to universal scaling behaviour and subsequent final equilibration, both in experiment and using renorma-liza¬tion-group theoretical methods.
