Piezoresistivity in nanocrystalline graphene

Subject Area Synthesis and Properties of Functional Materials
Term from 2016 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 317623651

In this project nanocrystalline graphene (NCG) is examined as a basis for transparent strain sensors. The starting point is a theoretical work, which predicts that piezoresistivity in graphene can be increased by certain grain boundaries. Up to now, this effect is not described experimentally in the literature, but appears - according to pre-experimental results - to be existent. Combining experimental and theoretical methods the goal will be to clarify the influence of grain boundaries, functionalisation and band structure effects on piezoresistivity in NCG.
