The German Primate Center in Göttingen will provide the SFB its service, infrastructure and specialised expertise of staff for preclinical pig-to-primate xenotransplantation experiments (C3, C7, C8). Macaques and baboons are used as recipient animals, which are kept in stock in our breeding facilities. In addition, experiments of multi-transgenic hearts in Munich are supported by pre experimental blood withdrawal and storage (C8). DPZ is directly involved in organisation, preparation and implementation of preclinical islet xenotransplantation studies (C3) and experiments with heart valves (C7) in NHPs.
