Project Details
Piezotronic magnetoelectric sensors (A05)
Subject Area
Synthesis and Properties of Functional Materials
Term
from 2016 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 286471992
The aim of the proposed project is the investigation of current-based magnetoelectric (ME) sensing devices relying on the piezotronic effect. Pre-amplification inside the piezotronic space charge region makes it, e.g., robust for the long way out of the human body, if they are used as catheter probes. Consequently, it is proposed to examine and understand miniaturized piezotronic devices that will consist of needle-shaped ZnO and GaN. In addition, devices with multiple terminals and large band gap materials will be investigated in order to study the fundamental noise characteristics of piezotronic ME sensors.
